Register for Racism Sessions: The Advocacy Team is excited about the upcoming series of presentations on racism (as described in our advocacy presentation on September 13th).  The sessions will occur on four consecutive Tuesday nights at 7 pm starting on September 22nd.  The sessions are as follows:

*September 22nd – “The Bible and Racism: Viewing Racism Through the Lens of the Gospel.” Presentation by Pastor James Ray followed by discussion questions.  Pastor Ray is Senior Pastor at Second Baptist Church in Boulder (our neighbor down the street on Baseline). He was born in Jackson, MS. Prior to being ordained, he served in the technology sector for nearly 15 years and also as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Army Reserve for nearly 24 years (to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel).  Here is a link to Pastor Ray’s Bio: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Rc9pGDLgJJLA7y1rQJIQIOXKtXt05-H1_oW_0oiQqiY/edit?usp=sharing

*September 29th – “Racism and Society.” Congregation members (and possibly others) will talk about experiences with racism in our culture such as industry, education, and criminal justice followed by discussion questions.

*October 6th – “Racism and the Media.” Topics will include the role of the media in racism and taking action against racism in the media. followed by discussion questions.

*October 13th – “How Do I Talk About Racism?”  The Advocacy and Courageous Conversation Teams will present and facilitate discussions related to conversations and situations involving racism.

We are recommending that folks register for the sessions so we can prepare for the discussion portion of each session.  Here is the link for registration: https://atonementboulder.breezechms.com/form/9a2a5c We look forward to seeing you at the sessions!
